Purpose and Scope of the Position
Inclusion NWT is a non-profit organization providing services to individuals with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities and their families, assisting them in living meaningful lives in supportive communities.
The Communication and Administrative Officer is a pivotal position which requires the incumbent to bring a highly creative and flexible approach to each day while providing the first point of contact with individuals in person, by email, on the phone and over social media.
The Officer plays a lead role in ensuring the effectiveness and brand consistency of Inclusion NWT’s communications and promotions. As part of a small staff, the position also assists with a variety of projects and special assignments as identified by the Executive Director.
The Officer is also the information and support hub for the organization, assisting with all aspects of administrative duties and financial supports and employee/public and client requests.
The Officer is responsible for ensuring public, client and staff contacts are dealt with in a timely and respectful manner and are consistent with Inclusion NWT’s philosophy.
The Officer works closely with the other Inclusion NWT managers to provide the best fit of services and consistency for client service.

The Officer is responsible for assisting the Executive Director and other members of the management team to effectively carry out their duties. In many ways, the position is like a concierge, knowing where things are, how the pieces fit, and how to get things done. Assistance to the Executive Director includes creative brainstorming and logistics for board fundraising and awareness initiatives.

The Manager will be required to carry out other duties in support of Inclusion NWT, as assigned by Management.
Values, Skills and Abilities
The Communication and Administration Officer requires experience, knowledge and skills ideally achieved through a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as communications or design) combined with at least three years of relevant experience. A strong background in communications is highly beneficial. Equivalencies will be considered.
The position requires an understanding of Inclusion NWT’s mission and an ability to communicate and advocate an inspired vision of inclusion in all parts of an individual’s life.

The following certifications are required or preferred:
Successful criminal records check (required)
First Aid/CPR certification (required)
Valid class 5 driver’s license (required)
Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification (preferred)
