Our Project

Location of Role
Inflexion Games studio is based in Edmonton Alberta, with team members located across Canada. For this position, we are looking for candidates based in Edmonton, Alberta or willing to relocate to Edmonton. Edmonton-based team members are provided with a flexible work environment combining hybrid remote work-from-home and in-studio work arrangements.

Inflexion Games is searching for an Associate Environment Artist (Entry Level/Junior) to join the Art team. The Art department is responsible for supporting the project with artwork for Environments, Characters, Creatures, and Visual Effects. Our Environment Art team contributes to the game vision by creating visually-stunning, and densely populated worlds for our players to become immersed in.
What you’ll do
- We have a dynamic, agile team and as a consequence, there are many facets of environment art you’ll touch.
- You’ll work alongside accomplished colleagues to contribute to genre-defining, visually stunning environments.
- You’ll prepare artwork to support Nightingale’s architecture, foliage, or natural landscapes.
- Work with multiple disciplines across the team to achieve project goals
- You’ll work harmoniously with proprietary proc-gen systems to deliver exceptional experiences.
What we’re looking for
- Competent/fluent in Substance Designer/Painter, Adobe CC, and Maya.
- Perhaps strong with Zbrush, (though this is not mandatory for all tasks.)
- Experienced with PBR workflows for texture authoring.
- Comfortable handling artwork in the Unreal Engine
- Able to UV-unwrap assets efficiently and without artifacts, hitting texel density targets.
- Experienced with High-res to Low-Poly baking workflows without errors. They should also have experience creating clean low poly meshes.
- Comfortable working in a realistic visual style, and creating texture assets using Substance Painter.
- Sufficiently comfortable in Substance Designer to use custom nodes and outputs.
- Being able to create materials from scratch in Substance designer is a bonus – however, few tasks will require it.
- Aware of the importance of scale, LODs and collision – specifically how they relate to creating assets for games.
- An excellent spoken and written communicator: our team dynamic relies heavily on timely, precise, proactive, and courteous communication.
- Able to demonstrate your skills and your process, as well as your eye for details and aesthetics through a portfolio or showreel
- Highly motivated and self-driven – we ask that applicants are able to commit to the completion and approval of several assets, and we will require frequent, proactive updates on your progress.
