The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing all accounts payable transactions and providing excellent customer service to both internal and external suppliers/customers!
Committed to the supporting behaviours of our Community Strategic Plan: Innovative Innisfil 2030, and with a ‘Community First’ approach, you will also be responsible for:
Processing approved invoices for payment using source documents submitted by service areas and local boards
Preparing and reviewing accounts payable payments for accuracy and completeness, including the generation of payments, and the creation of the payment file to the bank
Analyzing and reconciling various expenditure and accounts payable related general ledger accounts
Performing bank reconciliations; monitoring outstanding deposits and cheques, and following up on un-reconciled deposits and stale dated cheques
Investigating and responding to vendor and staff inquiries to maintain a high standard of customer service
Job Requirements
We are seeking a candidate with the following accreditations:
Minimum two (2) year post-secondary education Community College diploma in Business Administration with a focus in finance or accounting, or related field
Minimum one (1) year work experience in an accounting environment. Knowledge gained in a municipal accounting environment an asset
Knowledge of accounting terms and regulatory requirements (Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB), Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP))
Experience with WorkTech products and Microsoft (MS) Dynamics is an asset
A Valid Class G driver’s licence in good standing and access to a reliable vehicle to use for corporate business is required as is the ability to attend evening and/or weekend meetings
