Job Overview:
The Technical Solutions Architect drives the integration architecture necessary for the team to develop and implement large complex projects. The Technical Solutions Architect has the ultimate responsibility of making technologies work together and, as a result, is a key role that contributes heavily towards the success of any project.
This is a customer facing role.
Technical Solutions Architect Roles and Responsibilities (In order of Importance):
- Gathering requirements for large and complex projects and engagements
- Fully architecting, designing, and implementing solutions from the gathered requirements
- Interacting with clients effectively
- Breaking down conceptual designs and architectures a series of stories (larger tasks) to facilitate planning
- Leading multiple projects and engagements
- Developing and managing project plans
- Assigning project tasks to team members
- Conducting regular project check ins, tracking progress and escalating issues to management
- Presenting ideas and solutions to larger groups
- Creating and maintaining document repository of mappings and processes
- Following and understanding the client’s technology to stay current
- Establishing integration process and architectural best practices
- Identifying and recommending team priorities and objectives to management
- Keeping technical skills up to date; following and exceeding the strategic plan
- Keeping ahead of the technology curve
- Acting as a mentor to team members; assisting, providing guidance and technical direction as required
Education, Training & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related program
- A minimum of 5 years’ work experience as an ETL developer, architect, database developer
- Previous experience working in a consulting/professional services role
- Strong knowledge of ETL best practices
- Experience with general scripting languages
- Experience in leading and supporting technical colleagues through either direct or indirect management
- Experience with managing multiple projects
Skills & Technologies:
- Exceptional technical and analytical ability
- Experienced with Boomi, Alteryx and/or other ETL Tools
- Advanced SQL skills
- Proficient with Python, Powershell, and other scripting languages
- Experience with PowerBI / Tableau would be an asset
- Experience with Spark / AWS Glue would be an asset
- Excellent understanding of technologies and how to use them to architect and design solutions
- Able to analyze large and complex data sets
- Excellent technical problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with clients both written and spoken
- Able to present ideas effectively to larger groups
- Keeps ahead of technology curve
