Role Description:
We have a unique and immediate role available for a Blended Learning Mathematics teacher to deliver MCV4U and MDM4U to a small group of students. These students are university focused and want to experience one or more high quality in depth OSSD accredited courses at the Grade 12 level. This is a blended learning course which requires a daily commitment to post online work and monitor student progress as well as teach zoom classes regularly.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing and modifying a course outline and ensuring that online content is aligned to the detail in the course and consistently posted on our online platform (Schoology)
- Post regular updates giving student specific instructions for asynchronous time expectations between lessons (Summary of learning, next steps, homework tasks etc)
- Develop an academically rigorous course focused on Grade 12 University bound students (the course should progress with enough skill development, activities, and learning consolidation to meet the needs of a motivated small group))
- Being adaptable and flexible to manage daily learning with a small group of students using both synchronous and asynchronous learning
- Ensuring students are challenged with appropriate and highly engaging learning content and at a pace that is suitable for Grade 12 academic students;
- Creatively working with all aspects of assessments “for”, “of”, and “as” learning (Growing Success) using a variety of formative and summative assessments.
- Can incorporate success criteria, learning goals and learning conversations into coursework to include the students in setting goals and meeting the ideals within “Growing Success”
- Putting into daily practice elements of good teaching including differentiation of instruction, scaffolding of assignments, critical literacy, providing timely feedback, and using voice and choice for differentiated assessment.
- Monitoring of student learning on a regular basis – by creating engagement tasks, regular uploads of learning progress and provide student feedback to learning;
- Supporting the development of appropriate learning skills within the course;
- Meticulously completing all teacher administrative tasks including:, using an electronic Gradebook (PowerSchool), completing timely provincial report cards, ensuring that course meets school’s inspection standards, and any other requirements as directed by the Principal;
- Upholding high personal standards of academic and instructional integrity within day-to-day teaching, assessments, and classroom management;
- Supporting student wellbeing, taking a genuine interest in success;
- Ensuring that students have a variety of academically challenging learning activities that meets the 110 hours of credit time that is fully documented in Schoology
Role requirements:
- A related university degree required.
- A Bachelor of Education preferred, (we will also consider preservice teacher candidates looking to begin their career with us);
- OCT registration preferred but not required.
- Experience with Grade 11 or Grade 12 Math is highly preferred,
- Prior teaching of MCV4U and MDM4U is a plus
- Online teaching experience with an ability to meet with students on zoom is a plus
- Our students often have an ESL background, the ability to communicate clearly in English will be required

Course Hours Explained:
- Blended Learning (Asynchronous/Synchronous): Teachers will prepare lessons using PowerPoint, and videos to teach from their home office with periodic travel to our campus in Kitchener if needed. Lessons are uploaded and moderated for completion.
- Students in this course are in Canada. The course can be prepared and moderated for after a traditional school day if mutually agreed upon
- The course requires 110 hours of documented student learning time based upon the principles of Growing Success
- This course MUST meet the same standards as an in-person course
- Lessons are delivered through zoom on Schoology and become video lessons that they can re-access throughout the course
- Courses would be taught sequentially with one starting on February 4, and one April 20th
- Both courses will be completed by end of Semester (June 30)
