How Will You Create An Impact
The Corporate Director, Major Capital Projects provides overall leadership and strategic direction for major capital construction projects, from planning and procurement, to design, project delivery and operational commissioning. This will include collaboration with various Capital Planning & Projects team members, engagement of senior executives and internal operations customers and subject matter experts, and on-going relationship management of external contractors, consultants and other key partners and government organizations.
A significant focus of the Corporate Director, Major Capital Projects is active leadership and participation in major capital projects delivery. This requires strong relationships with and understanding of a broad spectrum of IH’s operations, while also maintaining a current perspective of organizational priorities and awareness of provincial health system objectives. The ability to set and achieve targets, understand and work in operational details, plan and collaborate at a strategic level, and actively participate in all phases of projects from planning through to commissioning is key for this role, in order to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget, while optimizing the quality of service and deliverables.
The Corporate Director, Major Capital Projects has oversight of 20+ major capital projects with a value exceeding $1B. The department has a $500K operating budget and 10 staff.
In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations and implementing required corrective actions.
