The Department:
The Fund Controls team in Canada oversees various reconciliation functions and cash flows between Fund Custody and Trust Accounts, and is committed to providing superior service to meet daily operations that impact the Transfer Agency. The department also focuses on existing processes and improving efficiencies while meeting the demands of our business.
Your Role:
Under general supervision, helps provide a system of checks and balances for the Transfer Agent. Responsibilities include reconciling all cash management bank accounts, managing activities in Frontier and to ensure timely clearing of outstanding items, handling and performing control checks of all incoming and outgoing monies in the Trust Accounts, issuing and validating manual payments, ensuring correct filing and remittances of Unclaimed Properties, monitoring and handling audit/fraud related issues, executing regular reviews of existing processes and implementing future enhancements that impact the department’s processes.
You will be responsible for:
Coordinates and processes requests to move cash settlements between Fund Custody and Trust accounts, as well as between Trusts to Corporate accounts
Reconciles and validates Capital Stock transactions and other financial activities. Investigates and follows up with banks and custodian to resolve any discrepancies and issues within standard
Monitors cash flow to ensure adequate funds are available to meet daily operational requirements.
Accepts full accountability for items and follows up according to department standards until the answer is provided to the client, regardless of functions delegated to other departments
Understands and communicates when exceptions to the standard policies and procedures need to be made and initiates them
Initiates research and facilitates problem resolution through inquiry and cooperation with other departments
Reviews existing procedures and recommend improvements to current processes or procedures
Monitors Transfer Agent risk and compliance associated with prospectus policy and departmental policy/procedure
Responds in a professional manner to inquiries from internal/external customers and from regulatory agencies.
Remains current on all internal/external policies and procedures that affect Invesco Canada.
Prepares and reviews various quality control reports.
Participates in the inter-departmental projects such as Fund Launch initiatives and validate test output before the projects are promoted into production
Provides necessary support other business units on collective initiatives, such as Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) audits and year-end fund audits
Performs other duties/projects as assigned by the manager
Regularly participates in Business Continuity exercises when required
Covers other Control Analyst’s workload as assigned by the manager in time of illness and/or a vacant position
Responds in a professional manner to all inquiries from internal and external clients
The experience you bring:
IFIC or CSC course or are currently enrolled
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred or equivalent years of direct experience.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the financial services industry preferably in the in Accounting, Treasury, or Control environment
Knowledge in Banking Standards will be asset
Ability to identify priorities and achieve objective within time constraints
Detailed-oriented and well-organized
Ability to learn and apply new information and concepts
Good written and communication skills
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel. Knowledge of MS SQL Server an asset
Approachable presence coupled with common sense attitude
