Supports and facilitates staff across disciplines and sectors to attain excellence in Seniors Health. This will be accomplished through the assessment, development and provision of clinical and educational strategies that support and improve patient care. Applies a broad knowledge of the health care environment, occupational therapy professional practice, educational theory and models, research and evaluation strategies. Will provide clinical leadership by utilizing and role- modeling a systems approach to promoting a positive learning culture and advancing seniors health
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
Graduation from a recognized Occupational Therapy university program; and
Current practicing registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC); and
Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT); and
Five or more recent years of relevant clinical experience; and
Post graduate education, experience and/or training in Adult Education, Adult Learning principles; and
Valid BC Driver’s License.

Awareness of legislative and professional competency requirements of health care professionals and non-regulated staff and how these affect practice and learning needs.
Understanding of and application of adult learning theories.
Utilizes an evidence-based approach to practice support and learning strategies.
Demonstrated research orientation.
Integrates a team approach that includes use of a consultation, collaboration, patient/customer focus, goal-orientated, interdisciplinary appreciation and is based on clear, effective relationships.
Utilizes excellent communication skills including active listening, effective written skills, conflict management skills, advanced computer skills and use of electronic resources.
Utilizes change management skills at all levels of practice.
Utilizes formal and informal facilitation techniques with staff to achieve goals of position. Embraces and demonstrates a quality improvement approach to role.
