Reporting to the Chief Technologist, the Laboratory Site Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and direction of the day-to-day operations and the supervision of designated staff; meets established annual objectives; participates in policy and procedure development and implementation; participates in program and service design and delivery planning, implementation and evaluation; is accountable for an assigned budget and provides input on capital and operating budgets; and collaborates with Chief Technologist, Team leaders Support & Community Services, Technical Coordinators and staff to ensure that assigned Laboratory Medicine services are efficient, effective and support client/patient care goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist. Successful completion of a recognized diploma program in Medical Laboratory Technology. Successful completion of courses in hospital or business administration, supervisory and/or leadership training courses, and three (3) years recent experience including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills And Abilities
Demonstrate knowledge of integrated computerized clinical laboratory information systems, such as CERNER.
Demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, such as Word and Excel.
Demonstrate knowledge of clinical laboratory best practice principles, procedures, protocols and equipment.
Recognize and deal with emergent situations.

Plan, organize, prioritize, delegate, coordinate and evaluate service and employees.
Recommend and implement procedures and policies relating to Laboratory Medicine Services.

Travel is a requirement of this position and transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority.
