Reporting to the Director, Long-Term Care, the Manager, Program Practice & Education, works collaboratively with clients, physicians, managers and other stakeholders in the planning and development of practice and education initiatives.
The Manager leads in establishing standards and policies to support the model of care and quality resident care; develops and implements systems for quality improvement in a program management framework.
The Manager provides leadership, facilitation and coordination of an interdisciplinary team that supports the development, implementation and evaluation of practice strategies, standards and education. Includes overall responsibility for the management of specific projects, including management of related human and financial resources. The Manager provides leadership in the development and provision of training and education programs designed to attract and retain qualified staff to Long-Term Care, a strategic priority for VIHA’s Long-Term Care Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in a related health field and seven (7) years’ experience in a leadership or advanced clinical role including experience in health informatics, quality improvement and clinical documentation systems.
Skills And Abilities
Eligible for registration with the appropriate professional association.
Knowledge and experience in adult education and program development.
Knowledge of issues affecting long-term care clients in all areas of service delivery and service delivery structures
Able to lead, direct and develop staff in a rapidly changing environment.
Commitment to client focused service and teamwork
Project management, evaluation and community development skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills- Ability to develop and nurture an environment where quality improvement principles are embraced and used on a continuous basis
Ability to work independently and with initiative
Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills
Use of personal vehicle to facilitate multi-site travel
