Job Description:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Executive Director, North Island, the Senior Business Planning Analyst plays a critical strategic role in all aspects of strategic and communication planning, operational reporting, ad hoc financial and business analysis, case costing, and project management. The role will require superior communication skills and analytic thinking in identifying key strategic project initiatives and providing relevant and value-added communication planning, analysis and reporting. You will also foster and develop effective relationships with Agencies, Corporate Services, Health Service Delivery Areas, and other key stakeholders to identify, define, prioritize and execute initiatives. The role requires superior communication skills, but also senior-level strategic planning, financial analysis, and project management skills demonstrating a senior contribution to the Special Projects team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (i.e. Accounting, Finance) with a minimum of seven (7) years’ recent, related experience in a financial planning and business support role including auditing; a Chartered Professional Accountant designation; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Project management experience is an asset.
Skills And Abilities
- Leadership experience with an emphasis on knowledge of business analysis, strategic planning, financial planning, business process engineering, business case development and performance management.
- Effective facilitation, coaching and mentoring skills with demonstrated experience.
- Effective negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills with external organizations (Regional Health Authorities, the Ministry of Health).
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, that engage and inform the target audience.
- Refined presentation, facilitation, and issue management skills.
- Ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely to many audiences within an organization and to identify opportunities to create business value from IT.
- Client- focused with an ability to facilitate and encourage cooperation between diverse operational groups and skill sets.
- Strong attention to detail, capacity to learn and accept additional responsibilities.
- Advanced Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint skills.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
