ITD is seeking a highly motivated Vehicle Controls Engineer to join our electric vehicles team. The successful candidate will be a passionate, well-rounded professional capable of designing, developing, integrating, and testing new embedded vehicle controls solutions for our electric trailer technology. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with minimal supervision and alongside a team of mechanical and electrical engineers to meet defined program objectives and milestones.
Responsibilities
• Formulate control algorithms for electric trailers.
• The development process encompasses software design, implementation, simulation, testing, and system integration.
• Create and establish diagnostic systems for electric trailers in compliance with diverse safety standards, including Functional Safety (ISO 26262).
• Document control system designs, test results, and safety analyses in accordance with company and industry standards (ASPICE).
• Collaborate with fellow engineers to identify commercial trailer and sub-system requirements and incorporate them into software design.
• Develop and execute software/hardware-in-the-loop testing and Trailers integration testing.
• Collaborate with engineers to craft DVP (Design Verification Plan) and testing methods for evaluating functionalities on test benches and integrated Trailers.
• Devise design solutions to address control challenges, drawing from expertise in electrical, mechanical, and thermal systems.
• Conduct data analysis to enhance system efficiency.
• Fine-tune module calibration to optimize efficiency and performance.
• Analyze CAN (Controller Area Network) data from the field, offer support to on-site technicians, and suggest software enhancements.
• Provide support, oversee, and release software for a range of projects.
Qualifications
• Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls, or Computer Control Systems.
• A track record of at least 3 years of hands-on experience in the realm of automotive and electromechanical systems.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes within plant environments.
• A strong grasp of how heavy-duty trailers systems work.
• Familiarity with model-based development.
• Proficiency in MATLAB Simulink and State flow.
• Expertise in CAN/LIN Ethernet communication protocols.
• Demonstrated skill in crafting diagnostic algorithms.
• Previous experience with Functional Safety standards, specifically ISO 26262.
• Competence in reviewing and developing embedded C code.
• Proficiency in using CAN communication tools, such as Vector CANalyzer Kvaser, CANape, ETAS INCA.
• A foundational understanding of Power Electronics, including inverters, DC-DC converters, and chargers.
• Basic knowledge of energy storage systems, particularly high-voltage batteries, and their associated control systems. • Familiarity with automotive development processes and the V-cycle methodology.
• Knowledge of scripting languages like MATLAB and Python.
• A self-motivated individual with the capacity to work independently on projects.
• Exceptional attention to detail, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a dynamic work environment with shifting priorities.
