At Jack.org, this is what we do.
We support a national network of young leaders as they work to revolutionize mental health in their communities. Our network of 3,000 (and counting!) young people across Canada is as busy as ever, and our staff of 75 humans and 3 dogs are working just as hard – albeit from the comfort and safety of their own homes for the time being!
Our staff has been working hard to pivot our programs to meet the needs of young people in this challenging time. And, like we do every summer, we are keen to get an extra boost to our team by bringing on a cohort of interns to help across the organization.
If you want to spend your summer supporting our programs education and partnership work while being part of an awesome, supportive team, read on!
This is a paid internship that runs from May 2 – August 26, 2022. Our staff team is all working remotely, and this position will be home-based as well. We encourage applicants from across Canada to apply.
In this role, you will get to:
Work closely with our Programs Partnership team to develop a strategy for engaging with school boards to deliver our work in schools across Canada
Conduct research and landscape scan of youth-serving organizations across Canada with a focus on improving our programmatic reach to under-represented youth
Support our Teacher Engagement Lead to explore Canada’s education system and curriculum, understand curriculum requirements as they pertain to mental health, and support an advisory group of teachers lending feedback on Jack.org’s programs
Get a behind-the-scenes look at how Jack.org’s programs are developed and operate
We’re looking for someone who:
Has experience with basic research and outreach
Has excellent communications skills
Has strong administrative skills
Is exceptionally organized and comfortable managing multiple priorities
Understands and appreciates the importance of deadlines, is reliable and holds their quality of work to a high standard
Is enthusiastic about our programs and eager to learn more
Is tech-competent: Able to pick up new systems with relative ease
Candidates who are studying Education or have experience in the education system would be considered an asset
Please note: This opportunity will be funded through Canada Summer Jobs and all applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria to be considered for this position:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
What’s in it for you?
A full-time, paid ($17/hour) summer internship (16 weeks: May 2, 2022 – August 26, 2022)
A fun and challenging role with lots of opportunities to gain invaluable experience
The opportunity to be a part of something important and make an impact on the mental health landscape for young people in Canada
A supportive, flexible environment in which to learn and grow
A fast-paced and exciting working environment and a team of driven, talented people (check us out)
How to apply:
Please submit your resume and a cover letter of no more than one page. PDF format is preferred for all documents. We will be accepting applications until March 7th. Interviews will be held throughout the month of March. Please keep an eye on your junk mail!
While the work involves supporting a network of youth in all provinces and territories, this position is located at the Jack.org headquarters in downtown Toronto. Our staff team is currently working remotely, but we expect most staff will eventually return to working from our Toronto office.
