Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the JFL Research Department ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

In this role, the Research Associate will work in a dynamic environment amongst a small group of highly trained professional analysts and portfolio managers. This position is regarded as a stepping stone towards increased responsibilities and incumbents will benefit from one-on-one coaching and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

· Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader JFL’s relationships, systems and knowledge.

· Works closely with Analysts and Portfolio Managers in support of investment ideas and processes.

· Build and update detailed financial models.

· Collect, analyze, and input company financial data.

· Maintain database tables.

· Understand how JFL’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

· Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with the firm’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

· Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

Education/Experience:

· Undergraduate degree with strong academic credentials GPA > 3.0 / 4.0

· CFA designation or pursuit thereof an asset

· High-level of attention to detail and accuracy

· Demonstrated passion for investment, member of an investment program / club

· Strong numeracy skills

· Willingness to learn and adapt to change

· Reliable, with a good sense of judgment

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

· Previously worked as research assistant with the analysts team in the banking sector (asset)

Working Conditions

· Work in a standard office-based environment, currently working from home.

· Limited travel required for this position.
