We encourage underrepresented groups to join our team, be yourself, and help us achieve our vision of for an inclusive workplace and healthcare system.The purpose of this position is to work within a multi-disciplinary team in an adult co-occurring focused treatment program to promote behavioural change and personal growth in adults who are having difficulties coping with substance use, addiction and mental health issues. Duties will include but not limited to: – planning and preparing presentations and topics to be discussed during group facilitation: – providing motivational and supportive individual and group counselling;- assisting with functional readiness skills toward successful program completion;- responding to client questions, and providing educational information;- providing crisis intervention and applying behaviour modification techniques in a variety of settings;- providing on-going mental health and suicide assessments when appropriate;- completing client assessments and progress notes;- assessing and monitoring client behaviour, and reporting any major changes to the clinical team;- assisting the clinical staff in daily functions of the unit; and performing other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: – Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field with experience in addictions/mental health or successful completion of a comparable program from a recognized post secondary institution with experience in addictions/mental health. – Experience working with addictions and mental health issues.- Experience conducting group or individual educational/therapy sessions.- Possess a solid foundation of addiction treatment theory and the recovery process.- Excellent problem solving, conflict resolution and facilitation skills.- Strong behavioural management and leadership skills- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.- Demonstrated ability to apply non-violent crisis intervention and behavioural modification techniques in a variety of settings.- Have a good previous work and attendance record.Other Qualifications: – Knowledge of government systems, program planning and implementation, and health system services would be considered assets.- Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
