As a Corporate Client Banking & Specialized Industries Analyst, you will:
Prepare presentation and marketing materials for use in client meetings and transaction execution, covering topics such as financing alternatives, capital markets activity, capital structure advisory, treasury services, and derivatives
Participate in stages of a syndicated and leveraged finance investment banking deal cycle, from the pitch phase through execution
Build and maintain financial models to evaluate creditworthiness of a client and the impact of various capital structures
Conduct industry research and comparable company and transaction analysis
Coordinate efforts with deal team members and product partners across the Commercial Bank and the Corporate & Investment Bank
The position is primarily geared to providing leadership to deal teams and accountability for pitch book preparation and transaction execution, while ensuring coordination among analysts, senior deal team members, and credit underwriting. As a member of the team, the position plays an integral part to help gain, manage and maintain client relationships in the Canadian region in close coordination with senior bankers.
The final officer title and job grade is at the discretion of the firm and will be discussed at the time of offer. It may be different than what is listed on the requisition based on candidate experience level.
Training and development
Depending on experience, you may participate in a four-week Investment Banking training program in New York, giving you key technical and practical knowledge with a focus on financial modelling, valuation, accounting, corporate finance, economics, equity capital markets, debt capital markets and risk analysis.
You’ll also be trained on topics that cover financial instruments and real-world applications of theoretical concepts. Throughout the CCBSI Analyst program, you’ll participate in continuing education courses designed to further your banking knowledge and provide further exposure and insight into the J.P. Morgan product platform.
The work is fast paced, demanding and intellectually stimulating. We look for the following qualifications in our candidates:
Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of Commercial Banking, Investment Banking or Accounting experience.
The ideal Candidate will have previous experience of Corporate Banking or Investment Banking experience with a corporate finance background.
The ideal Candidate will have the ability to identify and assess credit transaction risks, structuring and documentation of credit requests.
Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
Ability to effectively communicate with clients and product partners
Partnership skills are essential as work will often overlap with industry partners, product partners and investment banking teams. Candidates must be prepared to assume a high level of responsibility
Attention to detail and quality of work are paramount as the analyst’s work is the foundation for the marketing materials presented to clients and backbone of the analysis for important risk decisions
Ability to learn on the fly and adapt quickly as deals and the capital markets evolve
Proficiency in French preferred but not required
