Strategic Role:
The In-Vehicle Software Developer creates applications for telematics modules and peripherals in road vehicles. At its core, this software collects, sends, and processes data in real time, but also includes business logic to improve vehicle performance, perform diagnostics, generate alerts, optimize energy management, improve safety, and more.

Main duties:
Develop applications for embedded telematics modules using appropriate programming languages (e.g. C, Linux).
Work closely with the engineering teams (Hardware and Software) to design the application specifications and ensure that they work properly with the embedded hardware.
Test applications to ensure reliability and robustness.
Update and maintain existing applications using best development practices.
Interact with end users to understand their needs and ensure that applications meet their expectations.
Document applications to facilitate their use and maintenance.
Maintain a technology watch to ensure that skills and knowledge are up to date.
It is also important to have a good understanding of road safety certification and compliance requirements. Embedded systems programming and high performance software development skills would also be an asset for this position.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other related field.
Professional experience (5 years minimum) in application development
A solid knowledge of appropriate programming languages
A good understanding of embedded systems
Good knowledge of communication protocols used in road vehicles (CAN, LIN, K-Line, FlexRay etc.)
Ability to solve complex problems
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Collaborative nature
A good understanding of road safety certification and compliance requirements is an asset
