We are seeking a dedicated Accounts Payable Accountant to join our client’s finance team, focusing on processing utility and property tax bills for their commercial properties. Responsibilities:
- Collect, examine, and verify utility invoices for accuracy and completeness
- Resolve discrepancies by coordinating with service providers
- Regularly update and maintain utility tracking systems to ensure timely processing
- Obtain and review property tax invoices
- Reconcile property tax payments with supporting documentation from the Treasury
- Investigate and address discrepancies with municipalities and consultants
- Perform regular reconciliations of utility and property tax accounts to ensure accuracy
- Support the preparation of financial reports related to utility and property tax expenses
- Ensure adherence to relevant regulations and policies during bill processing
- Maintain organized and accurate records of all processed invoices and related documents
- Assist the Accounting and Property Management teams as needed
- Handle additional tasks assigned by the Controller or Assistant Controller
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
- Enrollment in or interest in pursuing the CPA designation is an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with Yardi or similar accounting software is beneficial
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
