Kassen Recruitment Looking for Senior Accountant at Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Full Time

Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to become a valuable part of their dynamic team. In this role, the Senior Accountant will report to the Finance Manager for Reporting and controls and will assume a pivotal role in the financial reporting cycle. Responsibilities:

• Oversee the monthly closing process for the finance team, ensuring the timely completion of journal entries within the appropriate accounting framework.
• Contribute to the development and preparation of monthly financial statements and reporting packages for senior management, including insightful commentary on the balance sheet and profit and loss variances.
• Enforce compliance with crucial month-end controls related to journal entries and management reviews.
• Validate the Balance Sheet and Income Statement and coordinate the submission of the external reporting schedule to Corporate.
• Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations, advocating for standardization and addressing aged items.
• Manage cash and bank account reconciliations, cheque/EFT clearance, and processing of wire payments for accounts payable runs.
• Assume responsibility for asset capitalization and depreciation, collaborating with engineering and operations finance for accuracy.
• Prepare journal entries for key accounting cycles.
• Conduct system checks and reconciliations, initiating corrective actions when necessary.
• Manage master data requests and upkeep within the financial reporting ERP system.
• Assist the accounting manager in efficiently executing the year-end audit.
• Coordinate and lead internal audit SOX testing, document process improvements, and maintain a centralized repository for SOPs, process narratives, and controls.

Qualifications:

• CPA designation
• Previous experience in full-cycle accounting.
• Prior exposure to a SOX control environment.
• Strong experience in the CPG industry.
• Familiarity with SAP and Oracle.
• Solid knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Strong analytical skills for meaningful data presentation and recommendations.
• Proficiency in account reconciliation.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills, Excel and MS Office proficiency, excellent communication, effective task prioritization, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines.
