Description of Position

• Report to, support and assist Senior Immigration Lawyer
• Supervise and review immigration applications prepared by Immigration Case Coordinators
• Regularly review caseloads/deadlines to ensure smooth processing and follows up of pending applications
• Answer legal and administrative questions by the team
• Legal research to problem solve complex immigration questions and provide best legal recommendations and strategies
• Participate in legal education activities
• Conduct consultations with potential clients and prepare legal opinions/evaluations
• Delegate preparation of files to coordinators and assistants by providing comprehensive instructions
• Train team on immigration policies, rules and regulations
• Attend hearings at the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada and at the Federal Court of Canada (optional)

Skills

• Licensed immigration lawyer (any province/territorial law society)
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in immigration law
• Fluency in English
• Fluency in French and additional languages an asset
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Customer service skills an asset
• Ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines
• Detail oriented and positive attitude
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to identify issues, analyze facts and proactively determine appropriate case strategy
• Ability to work independently and unsupervised in a fast-paced environment while also demonstrating collaboration and teamwork

Salary: $30-$35 per hour (determined based on experience)
