Accounting Assistant
Reporting to the Financial Controller and Vice President of Finance, the Accounting Assistant acts as an integral member of the Kids & Company team, to provide professional support and comprehensive service to managers and staff within the organization, through the conscientious application of Kids & Company standards to achieve our mission statement: to provide quality primary and backup childcare services conveniently located near our children’s parent’s place of work. We aim to assist corporations in creating a healthy work/life balance.
The Accounting Assistant is an entry-level office position at the Kids & Company head office in Richmond Hill. This would be an ideal position for a new graduate that is interesting in learning the ropes in a fast-paced Accounting Department. You will be provided with on-the-job training and career development opportunities.
DUTIES MAY INCLUDE
· Verify bi-weekly timesheets with attendance tracking software for discrepancies
· Communicate discrepancies with center directors for verification
· Calculate final payments including lieu of notices, severance/retiring allowance, outstanding vacation balances, and banked hours
· Complete payroll summary worksheet with verified data and input into pay system
· Review final pay data for errors or discrepancy before submission
· Communicate with and resolve pay discrepancies or other concerns from employees
· Maintain a well-organized system of payroll records
· Accounting Department tasks as required
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
· Well organized and detail oriented
· Responsible for accuracy and timely processing
· Receiving, communicating and distributing information
· Providing answers and support to the President, CFO, managers, staff and Centre Directors
· Corresponding through email
· Ability to work independently
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
· PCP completion (an asset)
· University or College Degree in Payroll, Business or Accounting
· Experience with QuickBooks an asset
· Basic understanding of accounting
· Experience working with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
· Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
