SUMMARY:
The “Human Resource Manager at KIK Toronto provides comprehensive Human Resources support and guidance to the business leaders to ultimately improve talent level in the organization and align people capabilities with business objectives. Ensures that all plant HR activities are performed in a legal, ethical, and credible way. Develops and implements Human Resources programs and policies in support of the business imperatives. In partnership with plant GM and HR Director, proactively identifies improvements, determines and implements short and long term strategies concerning plant talent capabilities, efficiency, and other matters. Advocates employees, drives administrative efficiencies, and continually strives to understand how HR supports the business for bottom-line site improvement. Understands and promotes the critical balance between site and corporate HR objectives.
Responsibilities:
Carry out plant employee relations and other employee programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance
Provide advice, guidance and assistance to all management and supervisory staff on interpretation and administration of personnel policies, collective bargaining agreement and programs
Ensure compliance is adhered to with regards to all relevant human resources related legislation.
Develop training programs directly with the manufacturing plants to ensure sustained and effective programs exist
Support disciplinary processes and investigations
Manages recruitment, employment training, and performance appraisal programs
Identify and communicate to client groups, as a knowledgeable HR Practitioner regarding HR best practices, compensation, recruitment, employee relations, analytics related to turnover reduction, headcount, organization and other related disciplines
Consult on issues related to legal and procedural compliance, employee relations, strategies and support performance management
Thorough knowledge in coaching, knowledge for effectively handling and resolving employees’ issues
Delivering coaching, guidance and support relevant to the needs of client groups in areas such as: talent management, leadership skills, and employee engagement
Assist in the rollout of various HR based programs and initiatives
Other duties as required
Qualifications:
Four year degree (or higher) required in area of discipline; Professional Certification a plus
Minimum 5+ years as a Human Resources Manager
Experience in manufacturing or distribution environment with at least 75 FTE employees
Union experience is required, must be skilled in Collective Bargaining Agreement management
Proven problem-resolution and decision-making skills
Able to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Goal and results oriented
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven discretion and sensitivity to confidential information
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
