JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our finance team in the role of Controller or Finance Director, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. This is a hybrid position that presents an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our rapidly growing company and finance team. As we scale, you will play a pivotal role in implementing cutting-edge technology, optimizing financial processes, and driving tangible results. In addition to managing contract bookkeepers and other team members, we are looking for someone who can balance meticulous attention to detail with a strategic perspective, helping us chart the course towards our exciting company and financial goals.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to provide actionable insights for senior leadership and support strategic decision-making.
Report Creation: Develop and maintain accurate financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Investor Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to investors, fostering transparency and trust.
Process Scaling: Lead efforts to optimize and scale financial processes to accommodate our company’s growth trajectory.
Technology Implementation: Play a key role in implementing new accounting software and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Team Management: Oversee and mentor a team of contract bookkeepers and other finance professionals to ensure high performance and alignment with organizational goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure seamless integration of financial data and insights across the organization.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Qualifications: A CPA designation is a must, with a CFA being an added bonus (not required).
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant job experience, ideally in progressively responsible financial roles. Minimum 2 years in a marketplace, technology or other relevant start-up or scale-up company.
Team Leadership: Proven experience in managing high-performing teams and fostering a culture of excellence.
Technology Proficiency: Experience with implementing new accounting software, integrations, POS/interface systems, database management and extraction and scaling accounting teams is highly preferred.
*Familiarity with Xero, Snowflake, Tableau, Dext, Fathom and Plooto (or similar) is considered an asset.
Adaptability: Thrives in an environment with ambiguity, rapidly changing priorities, and complex challenges, demonstrating a proactive “go-getter” attitude.
