Full-time (35 hrs/wk) ECE Positions
Harbourview Child Care

We are seeking experienced ECE certificate holders for two full-time, ongoing positions at Harbourview Child Care Centre.
The successful applicants will offer innovative ideas and enthusiasm to our dynamic, inclusive, and multicultural program.

These positions start on August 15, 2022 and September 1, 2022, or sooner. These positions report to the Program
Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

• To be able to work within a team environment, and to provide a developmentally appropriate, play centred and inclusive program.
• To develop programming based on children’s needs, interests and abilities.
• To attend to child’s physical needs that may include toileting, eating, etc.
• Establish and maintain positive daily communication with family and other professionals.
• Ensure children’s safety and supervision, using positive behaviour guidance strategies.
• Work collaboratively with childcare team, other Kiwassa programs and community partners.
• Build a relationship with the children, staff, and families in the setting.
• The role includes: modeling strategies, training staff on the floor, and fulfilling any regular staff duties throughout the daily schedule’s routines and transitions, as appropriate.
• To work towards the goal of ensuring the child’s successful participation and socialization in a childcare setting.
• To show willingness of ongoing professional commitment and development, and an attitude that supports ongoing learning and self-reflection skills.
• To guide and care for children using positive and compassionate techniques
• Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

• One year recent related experience, in an integrated setting.
• Experience working with children with special needs is required.
• Current ECE certification is required.
• Valid First Aid Certification.
• Experience with, and passion for, creating innovative, play-based programs for young children.
• Experience working with families with diverse needs and abilities.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent English language ability.

Remuneration: Harbourview staff are members of the BC General Employees’ Union. This position is open to applicants of all genders. As per the Collective Agreement, ECE starting wage is $21.13/hr (2021 rate). Eligible employees will also receive the $4/hr ECE Wage Enhancement, generous vacation time, and an excellent benefit package.
