ROLE – The primary function of the Associate Producer is to support the Producer and game teams to ensure the timely completion of both original and contract projects that are creatively and commercially successful.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Take responsibility for the successful completion of assigned projects in support of the Producer:

• In conjunction with the Producer, ensure that the goals of the project—quality, timeliness, budget, etc—are met
• Stays up to date with the current state of project management processes and tools
• Works with game designers surrounding acquisition, retention and monetization mechanics
• Resource management
• Highly knowledgeable of current best reviewed and best selling games
• Ensure that the entire team knows its highest priorities and due dates
• Continuous optimization of schedules
• Maintain forecasts of the project’s budget; anticipate, identify, and resolve potential issues
• Proactively evaluate risks, potential obstacles and provide solutions before they become issues

Management and Client Interaction

• Regular reporting to both management and external clients regarding project status
• Identify and track the responsibilities and dependencies of clients
• Manage potential conflicts between internal and external expectations for the project in conjunction with the Producer

Career Path

• Upon successful completion of several projects in the current role: Co-Producer and then Producer

Documentation

• Oversee the creation and maintenance of all project-related documentation: milestones, schedules, contracts, design documents, specifications, etc.
• Work with the Leads (Producer, Art Director, Lead Game Designer, Technical Director) to develop project specifications that define the scope of the project, requirements of the prototype, and deliverables of milestones

Staff Support

• Some HR related duties (i.e. holiday tracking, performance review tracking, etc.)
• Assist the Producer to complete performance reviews of team members on a timely basis
• Help settle project-related conflicts and disputes
• Assist the Producer in ensuring that the team’s work environment is healthy and facilitates a high degree of creativity and productivity

SKILLS

• Proactive, thorough and accurate management and communication
• High attention to detail
• Strong background in F2P acquisition, retention and monetization mechanics (analytics) a must
• Multi tasking: able to project manage multiple projects
• Problem solving
• Strong leadership skills
• Timely implementation of the Critical Stage Analysis process (CSA)
• Solid knowledge of the game development process
• Experience with managing multiple projects
• Timely reporting to senior management, leads and clients
• Ability to maintain project-related documents, schedules, lists, etc., using commercial software (e.g. Merlin, Microsoft Office, MS Project, etc.)
• Ability to consistently deliver high quality games, on time, on budget that make a difference

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 2 years professional experience working in the digital media industry as a Project Manager, Development Director, Assistant Producer or equivalent
• At least 1 AAA released project (mobile, console, PC/Mac)
• PMP project management certification
• College or University degree or equivalent experience

COVID-19 considerations:
Until the conclusion of the pandemic, as determined by BC Health, remote work is the norm. Thereafter, it is expected that all team members will be working at Koolhaus’ downtown office in Vancouver, B.C.
