Krahn Engineering is seeking a highly skilled architectural drafter to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. The Krahn Group of Companies is a multi-discipline assembly of professional design firms in architecture and engineering who specialize in commercial, industrial and residential design. Over the past 30 years, we have established a reputation in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario, for providing the most functional, comprehensive and cost-effective solutions to clients.
The Architectural Drafter will be working closely with lead architects to prepare detailed, accurate drawings from various sources of information and for various purposes. The successful candidate will be providing graphic information required by clients, contractors and various approval bodies. Other responsibilities will include checking the accuracy of drawings done by teammates, ensuring builder compliance, and preparing design drawings for presentations.
To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate exceptional skills using computer-aided drawing tools with a strong focus on Revit Architecture. The ideal candidate will also have a good understanding of building technology, Alberta design standards, superb communication and collaboration skills, and an ability to draw by hand to test ideas.
Responsibilities
Gather all the information needed to complete accurate drawings.
Produce drawings and models using Revit.
Create 3D architectural models, document & annotate 2D drawings, sections, and details generated from 3D models.
Update designs and check accuracy.
Visit sites for research purposes and for ensuring construction workers follow the plans.
Coordinate the work of drafting teams, engineering disciplines and other sources.
Prepare drawings and scale models to present to clients.
Compile technical reports.
Take on additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
Diploma in CADD with emphasis on drafting or Certificate in drafting.
Expertise in Revit 3D design software and rendering add-ons SPECIFIC to architectural.
Proven drafting skills and experience.
Experience in western Canadian architectural office and construction environment.
Flexible, adaptable, fluent team player.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Skills (Excel, Word and Outlook).
Ability to read and understand architectural and multi-discipline engineering drawings.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Self-starter and team player.
A valid driver’s license.
