JOB OVERVIEW: International Admissions Specialist

The International Admissions Specialist offers information, administrative support, and advice regarding KPU programs, application processes, and documentation requirements to potential international applicants and students. This position reports to the International Manager of Admissions and Enrollment Management and supervises and provides leadership to the International Support Assistant (ISA) team. The incumbent leads the ISA team to process applications, analyze documentation for authenticity and completeness, record various documentation into the Student Information System, and issue letters supporting the admission and enrollment of international students. The incumbent also provides superior customer service to a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Education And Experience

• Successful completion of an undergraduate Diploma or an associate’s degree in a related discipline. A combination of education and working experience will be considered.
• Minimum two years of experience working with international students in the admissions portfolio, and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a cross-cultural working environment
• Previous experience in supervising unionized staff considered a strong asset

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of International Admissions processes and procedures and the ability to analyze established processes to recommend changes in support of international students
• Solid knowledge of the BC post-secondary educational system and international education systems
• Experience in the use of enterprise student information systems
• Intermediate level knowledge and experience in computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email
• Ability to build and maintain positive, cooperative, and service-oriented relationships with internal and external clients such as applicants, agents, faculty, staff, and prospective learners
• Oral and written fluency in English and a secondary language in one of KPU’s target markets is required. The language requirements for the open role will be specified in the job posting
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to record and process data efficiently and accurately
• Ability to multi-task, apply organizational skills to meet deadlines, and use problem-solving skills
• Ability to exercise a high level of initiative and responsibility, work independently and establish own priorities to meet deadlines
• Proven ability to conduct oneself calmly and professionally in a demanding, high-stress, fast-paced environment over a sustained period of time
• Proven ability to represent a post-secondary institution or other similar organizations with tact and diplomacy in all settings
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information appropriately
• Ability to travel and work at various campuses
• Minimum of 45 wpm keyboarding skills with a high degree of accuracy
• Able to lift and carry materials in the range of 30 to 50 lbs.
