About your next Challenge as a Technical Translator :
L3Harris is looking for a Technical Translator (English to French) to join our In-Service Support team for various Department of National Defence (DND) aircraft fleets such as the CF-18, CH-147F, CH-148, CT-114 and CP-140.
You will use your skills in both languages to translate electronic publications (published as an IETM) such as operating, maintenance, testing and troubleshooting manuals, as well as wiring diagrams for use by technicians. Translation is generally from English to French. However, you will occasionally be asked to translate from French into English, particularly in the case of internal organizational communications.
What You Will Do:
Translate highly technical documents from English into French while maintaining linguistic accuracy and consistency.
Work with other translators to ensure consistency in the use of appropriate terms.
Conduct terminological and contextual research to ensure accurate and appropriate translation.
Work with the coordination team to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
Ensure that the terminology bank and translation memories are kept up to date.
Translate internal communications for other company departments such as senior management, human resources, engineering, IT, etc.
Contribute to process improvements and the achievement of ePubs team objectives.
Promote L3Harris’ core values of teamwork, diversity and respect.
Ensure the confidentiality and security of highly sensitive information.
Required Skills and Experiences:
University degree in translation.
Two (2) to five (5) years’ experience translating technical texts, preferably in the following fields: armed forces, navy, aviation, military equipment, armored vehicles, radar and weaponry, mechanical avionics, hydraulics, electronics, electricity and computers.
Good knowledge of computer-assisted translation tools such as Trados Studio is a strong asset.
Proficiency in Word and good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French.
Autonomy, initiative and independence.
Eligibility Criteria :
Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
