Should you accept the challenge, this role will involve:
You will report to our Fleet and Facilities Manager completing equipment repairs, maintenance, and various errands. The work will be split between our main shop, near McKnight/Deerfoot, and onsite at our satellite locations, (c-cans), around the city where we have crews work from and store their equipment. You will have a recurring list of duties such as fuelling, cleaning the shop, and picking up parts, as well as regularly assigned tasks for maintenance and repairs as assigned in our shop software.
The schedule will be determined with the applicant, but we do have some requirements for regular evening and weekend work, when the equipment is not in use.
Some of your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Completing assigned equipment inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Cleaning and organizing the shop.
- Driving (sometimes w/trailer) to our micro shops to complete services, swap out broken equipment, or run errands.
- Inspecting, operating, and testing various equipment from wheel loaders to hedge trimmers.
- Troubleshooting issues that arise, (crew members will call you), and determining the best solution forward.
- Daily reports to Fleet and Facilities Manager of repair progress, success/failures. Effective communication.
Applicants must have/be:
- A genuine, trustworthy person that will contribute to our work environment in a positive way. Ask yourself: “Have I had quite a few issues working with others in the past? Would I say it was the other party’s fault each time?” If yes, please do not apply.
- A minimum of 1 year proven experience as a mechanic (automotive, small engines, power sports)
- AB Class 5 with a clean driving record.
- Flexible with scheduling and availability: Able to work weekends and late weekday evenings when required.
- Comfortable driving a pickup truck, a plus if you have trailering experience as well.
- Tech skills – at minimum able to navigate a smartphone, and operate a laptop with an average skill level.
- Able to work alone outdoors. Many tasks need to be completed without direct guidance, out of a service vehicle outside of regular business hours when other staff are unavailable.
- Quick thinking and backup planning is required to be successful.
- Not afraid to brainstorm ideas and make them heard, teamwork is paramount in this role.

- Various mechanical skillsets: heavy equipment, small engines, automotive, welding
- Relevant hobbies, e.g. 4x4ing, farming, personal vehicle repair
- Heavy equipment operation
- This is often the most challenging part of this job for people, please think this through and ask clarifying questions in the interview.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $19-$25/hour (Depends on Experience)
