JOB PURPOSE:
The Coordinator, Program Accreditation is responsible for supporting the accreditation of professionalism content in CPD programs and alternate educational activities. This involves providing timely, accurate, and quality service to licensees, CPD providers, and Law Society employees with respect to the CPD requirement and accreditation, and processing applications for the accreditation of CPD professionalism content within the department’s service standard. With minimal supervision, the Coordinator conducts a risk assessment and determines whether to escalate certain applications, makes final determinations for non-escalated program and alternate educational activity applications, and provides recommendations on accredited provider of professionalism content applications. The Coordinator also contributes to the development and improvement of policies and procedures related to the department’s functions and to departmental cross-training.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- A university degree or college diploma (or equivalent) and a Law Clerk certificate (or equivalent legal training or experience).
- A paralegal licence would be considered an asset.
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a legal services or law firm, regulatory, government, or adult education environment, with the ability to work independently and as a member of a dynamic and integrated team.
- Commitment to delivering superior client service.
- Solid understanding of the Law Society, including organizational structure, services, mandate, rules, and regulations.
- Solid understanding of the Law Society’s CPD requirement and accreditation process.
- Knowledge of professionalism and practice management issues and standards.
- Critical thinking skills to reason through moderately complex written and spoken information and to assess applications in line with CPD accreditation criteria, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to assess risk and appropriately escalate inquiries and applications.
- Clear, concise, and articulate verbal and written communication skills to compose correspondence, communicate detailed information, and provide easy to understand explanations and responses.
- Strong editing and proofreading skills with a detailed-oriented approach to written materials.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, content collaboration and management platforms, online application management systems, e-mail and the Internet / Intranet.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Client / Customer Service Delivery
- Delivers timely, accurate, and complete information to licensees, CPD providers, and Law Society employees about the CPD requirement and accreditation.
- Assesses and processes applications for accreditation of professionalism content consistently with the accreditation criteria, policies, and procedures.
- Exercises judgment and organizational awareness to recognize and escalate applications or inquiries that are complex or unique, relate to emerging issues in the professions, require nuanced analysis of standards, or address issues that pose reputational risk to the organization.
- Makes final determinations on whether non-escalated accreditation applications are approved or denied.
- Reviews applications for accredited provider of professionalism content status and CPD provider history and offers recommendations for approval or denial.
- Assists with and contributes to the Practice Supports and Resources (PSR) department’s working groups and special projects, and Law Society-wide initiatives, as required.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and, in consultation with the PSR Managers and/or Director, implements enhancements to the efficiency and effectiveness of the departmental procedures.

- Focuses on the integration of continuous improvements in work policies and procedures.
Team Membership
- Acts as a proactive member of the team, working closely with others to ensure that information regarding policies, procedures, and emerging issues is effectively exchanged, understood, and applied.
- Demonstrates flexibility and commitment to PSR by supporting PSR functions as required.
- Provides cross-training and vacation coverage support to coordinator roles within PSR and as otherwise requested by PSR Managers or the Director.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT:
The Law Society has introduced a Distributed Workforce Model to leverage flexibility and agility, and to maximize employee productivity and engagement. Work arrangements will be determined by role and departmental requirements. The working arrangement for this position has been classified as primarily remote, with a requirement to attend the office on an occasional basis.
