Ledcor Looking for Heavy Equipment Operator – Excavator Operator at Fort McMurray, AB Full Time

Job Summary:

You are an experienced Equipment Operator with experience to support us on industrial oil & gas projects. You will be an integral part of the Ledcor team working on the CBR Cogen project. This is a two-year project for the construction of two 400 MegaWatt cogen units. The project is conveniently located right outside of Fort McMurray at Suncor Baseplant.

Responsibilities:

• Effectively and safely operates various types of excavators – utilizing machine specific controls to complete all necessary tasks related to heavy earthworks and construction.
• This includes operating on adverse terrain, near other equipment and heavy trafficked areas
• Operates in congested, fast-paced working environments, and exercises extreme caution with awareness of buried utilities and structures
• Interprets verbal and non-verbal communication (including hand signals) from operators, ground personnel and Labourers, and acts accordingly.
• Performs mechanical inspections and servicing including controls and operations, completing logbooks, performs maintenance and adjustments, ensures good housekeeping, and performs machine lubrication.
• Performs effective operation of equipment by recognizing unusual machine movements and sounds.
• Recognizes existing and potential hazards and knows how to identify these through conducting a field level pre-job hazard analysis, checking the machine for hazards and assessing any tasks before start.

Requirements

• Must have 3+ years previous experience in on heavy civil / earthworks projects
• Excavator Operators with finishing experience is required
• Competent ability to operate other equipment, such as Loader, Dozer, Packer, Zoom Boom, Skid Steer and Rock Truck would be an asset
• Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
• Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
• Must possess valid CSTS / OSSA Regional Orientation / Basic Safety Orientation certificate, Ground Disturbance Level

Work Conditions:

• Project is located in the Fort McMurray AB
• Project commenced in July 2021; this is a role with long term potential
• 14 days on /7 days off schedule, working 10 hours per day
• Site based camp provided
• Charter Flights from either Edmonton or Calgary
• Flights booked from your local airport to the chartered locations
• Plus an additional allowance for all employees
• Driving to Fort McMurray is an option as there is camp parking available
