Under the guidance of Senior Accountant of Corporate Accounting. The accountant will be assigned tasks and projects which support the Finance functions. The candidate will gain exposure of APUC’s renewable energy (wind, solar, hydro, thermal), and utility (water, gas, electric) portfolios.
Accountabilities
Month and quarter end task:
- Preparation of recurring and non-routine journal entries.
- Perform adhoc analysis.
- Prepare government reports such as HST remittance and STAT Canada reports.
- Assist accounting team in implementing the process improvements.
Month end Bank reconciliation:
- Assist senior accountants in preparation of month end bank reconciliation for various entities.
- Create a documentation of department projects and process.
Monthly accounts reconciliation:
- Assist senior accountants in preparation of monthly accounts reconciliations.
- Assist in intercompany reconciliation.
Quarter end tasks:
- Assist in preparing the quarter end notes to financial statements.
- Assist in preparing the cash flow reports.
- Assist in consolidating with Balance sheet analysis.
System migration:
- Assist with GP to SAP data migration process.
Education and Experience
- 2nd to 4th year Business student attending College or University with a focus in Finance or Accounting.
- Must have experience with data analysis including root cause analysis.
- Must have strong experience with Microsoft Office Programs: Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Must be detail oriented and possess excellent follow up skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
