Lindt & Sprüngli (Canada), Inc Looking for General Accountant at Toronto, Ontario, Canada Full Time

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the day to day accounting functions of the business with a specific focus on Financial Reporting and Operating Spend analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the month end process, work with the Accounting Manager to manage the effective and timely delivery of monthly reporting requirements
• Complete the entry of all corporate reporting such as month-end accruals, prepaid expenses, and bank transactions, intercompany transactions
• Prepare and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations; specifically Bank reconciliations (CAD and foreign currency accounts), Accrued Liabilities, Prepaid accounts and other accounts
• Prepare and submit annual budgets and forecasts
• Prepare analysis for fixed asset depreciation and rent for periodic budget and forecast submissions
• Prepare monthly operating reports analysis (Actual vs. budget or forecast) and provide insights into spend
• Liaise with accounts payable and accounts receivable as necessary to ensure the accuracy of financial statements and proper cut-off
• Entry of fixed assets into the fixed asset system. Prepare reporting for review. Own and maintain the Fixed Assets system. Responsible for providing monthly reporting and analysis
• Assists with cash management process, supporting the business units with any banking queries
• Prepare and submit corporate, commodity, and withholding tax payments monthly
• Management of the Chart of Accounts such as set up of new accounts in the system and creation of chart of accounts for new business units
• Complete various Statistic’s Canada reporting
• Proactively recommend changes to processes and procedures to ensure efficient flow of information and resolution of issues to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Contributing to ad hoc projects as assigned

Qualifications:

• Currently designated or working towards a designation (CPA)
• Experience with generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
• Possesses strong technical accounting skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy
• 3-4 years financial experience specifically in Corporate Financial reporting and General Accounting
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills to support strong interpersonal skills, enabling successful collaboration with a cross-section of teams
• Pro-active self-starter, who takes a high level of ownership in their work
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel
• Experience with Cognos and JDE an asset
