VP of Manufacturing and Optimization – Solution Equipment Systems

Our client is an innovative manufacturer and leader in their space, that’s been experiencing impressive growth; and due to this success are motivated to build and strengthen their executive team. With their destructive technology they are focused on building their market share in both the medical and industrial segments across the globe. Cameron Lappin, of the Lock Search Group, has been retained to assist in in this integral search for a Vice President of Manufacturing and Optimization. Key to this role is bringing on a champion who has a proven past of standardizing and scaling their operations, while building out their production operation in the US to support immense demand and forecasted growth.

Reporting to the President and CEO, you will be responsible providing strategic and operational leadership for the organizational manufacturing requirements. The professional required will be an integral part of the leadership team, and a strategic member that brings both a strong production and manufacturing background, but also business acumen and vision. The ideal candidate will have high emotional intelligence and can utilize great communication skills to achieve exciting goals. This is a hands-on position that require an action-oriented professional.

Our client is extremely motivated to hire the ‘most suitable candidate’ for this key leadership position. Financial relocation support will be provided to ensure those interested in this opportunity, who are also interested to residing in the Greater Vancouver area, will be supported.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for standardization, continuous improvement, scaling, operational production across manufacturing/assembly plant operations
• In-charge of installation and service of onsite equipment and solutions
• Depth with dashboards, and developing key metrics, processes, and infrastructure
• Responsible for opening additional production operations in Canada, and the US to supporting scaling and growth plans
• Work closely, consistently and collaboratively with finance, sales, and marketing departments to ensure a unified approach to support goals and targets
• Responsible for the manufacturing production, quality control, supply chain management and installation functions tied to facilities in Western Canada and US expansion
• Lead the successful scale-up and on-going manufacturing of quality products within regulatory standards
• Develop and manage packaging and fulfillment standard operating procedures based on the applicable regulations, policies, objectives and program-specific need
• Ensure the production organization accomplishes safety, quality control, schedule and cost performance
• Direct the assembly and production teams on a daily basis to ensure execution of the company business plan while simultaneously implementing continuous improvement initiatives that will deliver long term benefits
• Develop and execute strategies to achieve operational objectives for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual production and quality metrics
• Inspire the growing team to achieve results that satisfy the quality, time and quantity targets by sharing a strategic perspective, developing and recognizing your people, and “rolling up your sleeves” to get things done
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, and executives with professionalism and integrity

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Possessing an ‘Engineering’ Degree is essential for this position
• Post Secondary education and development in business/commerce would be a nice addition to an engineering degree – MBA would be an asset
• 5+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience in production/operations management with a focus on scaling organizations
• Track record of entrepreneurial experience is a plus
• Ability to communicate, and present at an exceptional level – both written and verbal
• Strategic mindset, with the ability to innovate, and execute.
• Possess exception leadership qualities and the ability to connect with your team at all levels, including with ownership, investors, managers to the production/assembly employees
• Must be able to coach and mentor, but also maintaining expectations for results with accountability
• Demonstrate critical and strategic thinking skills, including decision making skills
• Previous experience creating, developing, and executing plans that involve budgeting and deep goal setting in alignment to sales targets – strong planning background
