Job Summary: Operate presses from 500 ton to 1000 ton, while ensuring quality and productivity standards are met and complete all necessary documentation.
Essential Functions
- Operate hand transfer and progressive die operation and/or perform other duties according to specific job instructions (i.e. coil replacement)
- Assisting set ups as required; create first off/ last off
- Follow work instructions and verbal directions to meet targeted production quotas
- Ensure that only quality parts are passed onto the next operation, notify supervisor of quality related problems immediately
- Complete all necessary documentation (production reports, quality alerts etc.) correctly and in a timely manner. Ask for assistance as required
- Maintain a safe work environment through adherence to all safety policies, rules and procedures established by the company, and initiate corrective action to any unsafe conditions
- Maintain an attitude of cooperation and teamwork
- Initiate continuous improvement actions in all aspects of press operations
- Participate in problem solving all operational problems
- Assist with housekeeping, scrap removal in the press area during the shift
- Meet or exceed all quality requirements
- Meet or exceed all production standards and expectations
- Assist in training all new or incumbent employees
- Comply with all Federal, Provincial, and Local safety and environmental regulations
- Continually seek ways to reduce waste and costs in all aspects of the press operations
- Perform all other assignments as directed by management
Required Education And Experience
- Minimum of Grade 12 Education, or equivalent
- Strong communicator in the English language
- Strong attention to detail and dexterity
- Capable of carrying out standardized procedures
- Knowledge in error proofing devices such as part sensors and press tooling preferred
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Minimum 2 year experience in a press machine operation
- Experience with measuring equipment
- Ability to follow standardized work instructions and problem solve technical issues
- Strong coordinating and organizing skills
