Financial Accountant

Lumenus has an exciting opportunity for two Financial Accountants to join our growing and dynamic Finance Team. As a Financial Accountant you will assist the Team Lead, Financial Reporting and Procurement by delivering business analyses that will support decision makers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting:
Verification of vendor invoices and enter/post into the accounting system, managing supporting documents to facilitate payments
Periodic reconciliation of GLs and sub-ledgers, bank and credit card accounts, analyze/resolve the variances and report to the supervisor
Reviews, analyzes and prepares adjustment entries, recurring monthly accruals and journal entries on a timely basis for completion of monthly close.
Supporting payment team in processing payments when necessary
Coordinating with programs to produce AR invoices, recording receipts and payments to the accounting system
Budgeting:
Analyze financial reports and data and prepare necessary working files for operational planning, budget/estimates process
Provide support in the preparation and analysis of budgeted program financial
Reporting:
Monitoring and reporting budget vs actuals to budget holders
Identify discrepancies and make corrections as necessary
Prepare periodic reports for funders and other external stakeholders for review by supervisors
Assist in quarter-end reporting and annual audit field work
Update/work on various reporting templates to assist the supervisor to report to internal and external stakeholders
Competencies:
Ability to work with cross-functional teams including programs, operations, and external auditors and vendors
Ability to work independently as well as within a team on ad hoc/special projects as required by management
Strong analytical skills
Excellent communication, presentation, and customer service skills
Ability to organize and prioritize in fast pace environment
Ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, initiative, and high degree of confidentiality
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma/bachelor degree in accounting/finance or equivalent in experience and professional training
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial reporting and analysis and gathering data from various sources
Advanced level MS office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Experience With SAGE 300 Accounting System Preferred
Non-profit experience in an accredited organization preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Exceptional organizational skills, time management skills and attention to details
Demonstrated high level of critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as with funders
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Satisfactory clearance under the Criminal Reference Check process.
