Magna Mining is an exploration and development company focused on sulphide nickel, copper and PGM projects in the Sudbury region of Ontario, Canada. The Company’s flagship asset is the past producing Shakespeare Mine which has major permits for the construction of a 4500 tonne per day open pit mine, processing plant and tailings storage facility and is surrounded by a contiguous 180km2 prospective land package. Our company is seeking aCorporate Controller who will provideleadership and execute on the company’s financial activities, while internalizing various functions as the company grows rapidly to a producing mining company over the next 24 months.
In this new role and reporting to the CFO, the Corporate Controller will be key to ensure robust processes and systems are put in place in order to position the company to graduate to a TSX listing.
The Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing and drafting continuous disclosure documents (consolidated IFRS financial statements, MD&As, AIFs and Management Information Circulars), consolidated budgeting and monthly reporting. The role will include responsibilities related to tax, treasury, planning and internal controls; and will evolve over time.
Adept at internal controls and accounting for complex financial transactions, the Corporate Controller will work with all departments and external service providers.
Responsibilities:
· Manage the day-to-day financial activities of the Company which includes supervising the company’s external accounting functions; and provide direction and guidance to staff and service providers.
· Working with the CFO, develop, implement, and maintain the Company’s financial reporting and internal control systems.
· Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, oversee financial budgeting and forecasting, and monitor cash flows — including long-term cash flow modeling.
· Plan and direct the Company’s treasury activities; direct tax functions; , cash management, tax planning and compliance controls.
· Review and oversee the release of timely, accurate financial statements/MD&As and other regulatory reports including AIFs and MICs.
· Interact with auditors, legal counsel, and the board of directors.
· Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax and employment requirements in Canada.
· Plan and coordinate the external audit and review engagements.
· Participate in the evaluation of acquisition and investment opportunities presented to the company.
· Participate in the development of and support the company’s strategic plans.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
· Accounting designation (CPA or CA), or an equivalent combination of related experience and education
· Minimum 8 years practical experience, with at least 2 years in a senior financial reporting role at a publicly listed TSXV or TSX company.
· Extensive financial modelling experience.
· Solid experience with tax, treasury, planning, budgeting and internal controls
· Experience with internal controls and accounting for complex financial transactions
· Strong technical skills: MS Office applications
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Impeccable analytical and organizational skills
· Self-motivated and self-directed leader that can work closely with a senior management team.
