Job Description
Canadian Division Integrated Financial Solutions (CDIFS) is a customer-focused team that provides professional, technical and operational support to the Canadian Segment Finance function. The team analyzes, develops and maintains efficient, cost effective and controlled systems solutions for Finance using Manulife’s enterprise-wide tools. CDIFS plays a role in divisional financial control oversight, and supports projects and initiatives to develop, enhance and monitor finance systems and applications.
Reporting to the Manager, Actuarial Systems & Sales Reporting, the Intermediate Systems Analyst is responsible for analysis, creation and development of technology based analytical and reporting solutions. The Intermediate Systems Analyst will be required to perform interviews with contacts from multiple departments within Finance to understand complex requirements and develop automated tools and reports using advanced programming / reporting tools. The incumbent will provide ongoing support to applications that are critical to Finance. The incumbent will inspire team members with a positive collaborative attitude and serve as a role model and mentor for peers by sharing knowledge and providing honest and timely feedback.
Key Accountabilities:
Systems Management & Support
Accountable for running and maintaining existing data loading and transformation jobs, reports, data extracts
Update SQL, Power Query, C# procedures to support Canadian Finance applications/processes
Work with business partners to design, develop and program complex reporting requirements and present the results to the end-user
Assist the senior members in preparing technical specifications, test plans, change requests forms and keeping the documentation updated
Research and advise on technology, tools and platforms for solution development, testing and user support
Troubleshoot application front-end and back-end / server related issues
Coordinate with all other technical teams on data and server related updates
Provide after-hours support occasionally when required
Application development
Analyze and translate business requirements into technical specifications, define scope and design software solutions
Develop, test and deploy applications enhancements into production environment
Provide User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Steady State support
Continuous Improvement
Proactively look for new and unique opportunities to streamline and consolidate reporting
Play a significant role in achieving process improvement goals and best practices
Look for and analyze reporting problems/process inefficiencies autonomously
Demonstrate commitment towards continuously updating knowledge and skills
Customer Service
Build effective relationships and establish a prominent level of credibility within CDIFS and Canadian Finance Segment
Analyze and develop ad hoc reporting based on requests and deliver reports that meet customer expectations for accuracy, consistency, and timeliness
Resolve system user inquiries/concerns and escalate to leader when appropriate
Identify and recommend refinements and improvements to service offerings

What we are looking for
University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science or comparable education with 3+ years of experience in a Programmer/Analyst type role
Extensive experience with SQL, SSMS, Excel, Power Query
Excellent knowledge of various development languages and platforms (Visual Studio, C#, SAS)
Experience with BI Reporting tools is an asset (Power BI, QlikView)
Sound knowledge of System Development Methodologies (SDM)
Strong interpersonal relationship building, negotiation skills and influence
Self-starter with the ability to work independently, particularly when using independent judgment, problem-solving and analytical skills
Teamwork a must as will be required to support other areas of the team as required
Working knowledge of project management principles
Ability to communicate complex concepts and results in a clear, concise, easy to understand manner (written and verbal)

Salary & Benefits
The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location

Salary range is expected to be between
$55,125.00 CAD – $91,875.00 CAD
