About the role:

The Mechanical Design Engineer / Technologist will be a corner stone to our operations. We are looking for a dedicated individual that shares our vision of excellence. Quality and passion in this role are paramount. A typical skillset that we would be looking for would include:

• Passion for developing novel designs from abstract ideas
• Ability to draft and create 3D models quickly and effectively
• Creative problem solving. Thinking outside the box
• Quick and adaptable. Able to work with minimal guidance and think on your feet
• Strong engineering sense. Able to understand and decipher complex engineering challenges

Typical responsibilities, although not an exhaustive list, would include:

• Create 3D models for our products and generate drawings for manufacturing
• Follow and generate standard libraries of designs on product data management system
• Reverse engineer parts as necessary. Assemble and disassemble products as required
• Interface with vendors to create plans and timelines that will assist with the execution of our projects
• Follow and contribute to the lifecycle of the product from development to design, manufacturing, and delivery
• Suggest and implement good manufacturing practices that will facilitate building and execution of designs
• Utilize data from ERP software to manage the flow of products and information through our system

Requirements:

• 5+ years of mechanical design experience
• Post secondary education in engineering discipline (mechanical, manufacturing, or related)
• High level of proficiency in SOLIDWORKS (minimum 4 years experience)
• Proficiency with Product Data Management systems (PDM) desired
• Experience with DFM and different manufacturing processes (Experience with welding specifications highly desired)
• Understanding of GD&T principles
• Hands on experience with efficient assembly and disassembly procedures and different tooling requirements
• Awareness of safety and 5S workplace management standards
• Strong devotion to systems, standardization, and continuous improvement (Kaizen)
