THE POSITION
Maple is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Junior Corporate Accountant. As a Junior Corporate Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our accounting department in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with our policies and procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or entry-level professional looking to kick-start their career in corporate accounting.
Reporting to the Director, FP&A in this position, you will:
- Assist in preparing and maintaining financial records, including general ledgers, balance sheets, and income statements. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Help process invoices, verify transaction details, and record payments. Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue payments. Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve any payment-related issues.
- Prepare and post journal entries for routine financial transactions. Review and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
- Support the team in analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and preparing financial reports. Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in external audits, providing necessary documentation and information.
- Assist with tax-related tasks, such as preparing tax returns, ensuring timely filing, and researching tax regulations.
- Utilize accounting software and financial systems to perform tasks efficiently. Help maintain and update financial databases and records.
- Coordinate with other departments to gather and analyze financial information.
- Assist the team with ad hoc requests, reports, and special projects as assigned.
Critical to success in this role will be your analytical abilities to interpret financial information effectively and provide valuable insights, organization, and time management skills for efficiently managing your workload, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines. CANDIDATE PROFILE
- The ideal candidate possesses a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 1 to 3 years of professional work experience
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Adaptability and eagerness to learn new concepts and skills.
