THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting directly to the Company President, the successful candidate will participate in carrying out human resources strategies and procedures for the organization. You will be responsible for handling all aspects of human resources, focusing on recruitment, performance management, and retention. You will also be responsible for HR and Safety policies and procedures and employee relationships. This position is accountable for ensuring expectations are met consistently and following the HR guidelines and procedures at the company. Also, to contribute to a cooperative work environment where fairness, equity and non-discriminatory practices are the standards.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
· Develop, recommend and implement human resources programs and services in the area of recruitment, performance management, employee relationships and retention.
· Ensure corporate compliance with labour regulations and governance standards about recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new employees, record-keeping and performance management.
· Collaborate in recruitment initiatives, including identifying selection criteria, developing questions and tests, screening applications, interviewing candidates in conjunction with the hiring manager, verifying references, and making job offers.
· Lead programs for onboarding, general new start orientation, training, and employer branding.
· Develop and maintain HR policies to ensure the company always complies with OHSA.
· Prepare HR reports related to but not limited to staffing, and turnover, and provide action items to address gaps and issues.
· Maintains the company organizational chart and updates as needed.
· Assist the management team with a variety of issues and ad-hoc projects.
SKILLS:
· Solid knowledge of effective human resources management, including labour relations, employee relations, staffing, health and safety, and performance management.
· Excellent communication and people management skills; must be a team player.
· Self-starter, highly organized, ability to prioritize, strong attention to detail and goal-oriented.
· Ability to handle situations professionally with sensitivity, confidentiality, diplomacy and tact.
· Practices continuous learning by keeping abreast of human resources knowledge.
· Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
· Prior experience working in a warehouse or distribution environment or providing HR advice in this work environment is an asset.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· University degree or college diploma in Human Resources Management or post-graduate program in Human Resources Management.
· Minimum 3 years related experience in a Human Resources Generalist role.
· Working towards CHRP designation is an asset.
· Proficiency in Chinese and English, both orally and in writing.
