Marberg Staffing Looking for Financial Analyst at Toronto, ON Full Time

Job Type: Temporary.
Initial Term: ASAP for approximately 6 months, with possibility of additional extension or direct hire.
Target Compensation: From $40 per hour to $45 per hour according to experience.
Regular Work Hours: 9 am to 5 pm, not including .5 hour unpaid lunch break, Monday to Friday (37.5 work hours per week).
Work Location: Currently 100% remote-work, but expected to transition to a hybrid model later in the assignment, with onsite work located at Toronto office (location TBA).

Responsibilities Summary:
To execute accounting and financial analysis responsibilities related to year-end audit, ERP implementation and acquisition projects; as well as support daily finance and accounting operations including full-cycle accounts payable, payroll, budget forecasting, financial reporting and accounting activities.

• Support operational multi-year and financial planning processes by preparing and providing information such as budget estimates, allocations, calendarizations, and forecasts.
• Participate in fiscal year-end duties including year-end procedures, audit, financial statements, and annual report.
• Participate in accounting activities including preparation and monitoring of general ledgers, bank reconciliations and maintenance of bank and other reporting documentation and records.
• Provide back up to full cycle Accounts Payable by validating and processing invoices, and processing payments as required.
• Provide back-up to Payroll Specialist by conducting full cycle payroll, including payroll validation and processing as required.
• Provide additional back-up support to other accounting and finance officers as required.
• Additional accounting and financial analysis and reporting responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:
Education: University Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related discipline.
Professional Credentials: Pursuing or awarded CPA designation preferred.
Preferred Work Experience: Approximately 4+ years of progressive, pertinent experience in accounting and financial analysis.
Preferred Sector Experience: Demonstrated financial experience from a government or broader public sector environment an asset.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements:

• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and macros to develop sophisticated reporting and automation tools (will be tested).
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise (may be tested).
• Proficiency in Oracle/Workday.
• Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, including strong business writing skills and effective verbal presentation skills applicable to a range of audiences.

• Demonstrated advanced understanding of Canadian public sector GAAP under guidance of Public Accounting Standards Board, including application of pertinent accounting concepts, policies, and standards.
• Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character. Responsible, reliable and works to deadlines.
• Pleasant and courteous: demonstrated commitment to client service and professional representation of the organization.
• Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
• Demonstrated ability to apply project management principles, methodologies and best practices.
• Strong relationship management skills including client and vendor relations management, business networking, negotiation, change management and consulting/advisory skills. Excellent listening skills, with ability to provide and receive feedback effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to work well independently, collaboratively, and in an advisory capacity, and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
• Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
• Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
• Ability to complete a satisfactory Provincial Government security check, possibly including a Fingerprint Check, prior to assignment start. Please note that Marberg will reimburse for the cost of the Background Check upon confirmation of assignment start and submission of approved expense receipts.
• Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
• Additional satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References as required.
