Matrix is urgently hiring local labourers for a project in Halifax, NS. The pay rate is $28/hr with the potential for overtime. Our client has been building quality vessels for over 50 years and has been at the forefront of Canadian shipbuilding for over 130 years.
Key Responsibilities
- General cleaning of shops, facilities, projects and anywhere else needed
- Help with setting up for specified work on a vessel or in the shop
- Preparing and applying a coating
- Helping with care and preservation, performing fire watch and confined watch duties
- Assisting in docking and undocking vessels
- Surface preparation & Coating (i.e. Solvent Cleaning, Hand Tool Cleaning, Power Tool Cleaning, and Power Tool Cleaning to Bare Metal)
- Assisting others wherever assistance is needed
Qualifications
- MUST be eligible for Canadian Security Clearance
- Full PPE+Fit Tested Respirator Mask
- Problem-solving skills required
- Must be able to wear respiratory protection as required
- Physical effort and work conditions: Able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb
- Must be capable of working at heights from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms and in extreme confined spaces
- Occasionally lift and carry items that weigh over fifty (50lbs) pounds
