Position Summary
Provide clerical support and work collaboratively with the Supervisor Food & Hospitality Services at the Faculty Club. Placing and receiving orders of food and dry goods. Monitoring inventory of food, liquor, kitchen and other supplies. Paying invoices. Typing and translating menus; preparing posters or other promotional material. Answering inquiries over the phone and by e-mail; providing general information to callers interested in holding events/receptions at the Club. Taking reservations from members for lunch. Data entry of “chits” in spreadsheets. Reconciling payments by credit cards. Monitoring revenues and expenses. Interacting with residents occupying bedrooms upstairs. Greeting members and guests; acting as back-up server during peak lunch service. Collaborates with Supervisor in the planning, scheduling, and delivery of events. May be required to update information on Club’s web page.
Other Qualifying Skills And/or Abilities
Demonstrated experience with administrative work, basic accounting principles, and use of MS office software such as Word, e-mail, Excel. Willingness to learn new systems specific to McGill (purchasing, financial transactions, accounts payable).
Interpersonal skills and excellent customer service approach. Capacity to multi-task. Willingness to be flexible and handle “what needs to be done” as member of a small unit. Ability to exercise cooperation within a small team. May be required to work the occasional week-end (one day) to accommodate a larger private event.
