JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Controller, the Billing Clerk is responsible for supporting the Medicentres billing process, including but not limited to supporting Ontario physician and Alberta WCB billing.
JOB DIMENSIONS:
Supports the reconciliation of all billing and payment activity, billing investigations, and billing analysis.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounts Receivable:
- Responsible for reconciliation of billing activity from source EMR system to Physician Payroll system and ultimately to Sage 300 general ledger.
- Improves on current reconciliation processes to ensure accurate billing with automation where appropriate.
- Participates in collection activities on outstanding claim.
- Investigates any escalated dispute resolutions and billing errors.
- Perform WCB billing, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
Project Management:
- Supports and executes strategy for optimization of billing in Ontario and Alberta.
- Identifies potential billing loss or problems and creates a proactive way to prevent it from reoccurring.
- Documents new and existing control procedures.
- Recognizes opportunities for improvement, provides recommendations and assists in implementation.
Other:
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with the Ontario Physicians.
- Support physician onboarding and training on billing procedures.
And other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience and understanding of OHIP and AHS billing is an asset.
- Basic understanding of the flow of healthcare billing methods is considered an asset.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office Software.
- Professional and mature approach to customer service.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, bilingual an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and aptitude in numbers/statistics.
- Detail oriented and analytical.
- Ability to manage and prioritize project work.
- Aptitude for understanding databases, system flows and processes.
Education/ Certifications
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in finance.
