Summer Consultation Assistant, Research Assistant, and Public Policy Assistant
Location: Métis Nation of Alberta Provincial Head Office (Edmonton)
Temporary remote work (located in Alberta) due to COVID19. Some travel and field work may be required at a later date, Public Health Measures permitting.

Position Status: Full time (32+ hours), Summer Student (June – August)
The Organization
Since its inception in 1928, the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) has governed the Métis within Alberta. The MNA is led by a democratically elected Provincial Council, comprised of a Provincial President, a Vice-President, and six regional Presidents and Vice-Presidents. This Council works toward the mandate of the MNA, supporting practices of transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness for Métis Albertans in governments’ policy and decision-making processes. The Opportunity
The Provincial Office of the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) is recruiting for summer student positions within the Consultation Team. These are summer term positions with an end date of September 3, 2022. The successful candidates will provide support to their corresponding portfolios and must have the ability to produce professional documents and reports, possess strong technical skills, and have knowledge of issues facing Métis people.
Key Responsibilities – Consultation Assistant
Reporting to the Consultation Team Lead, the candidate will be responsible for:
Candidates will have a post – secondary education in Law, Public Administration, Governance, Environmental Science, Geographic Information Systems or a related field.
1-2 years experience in research. School or volunteer experience is valid experience.
Experience with Excel and GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, Adobe Acrobat DC, ENVIVO) would be an asset.
Key Responsibilities – Research Assistant
Reporting to the Consultation Research and Policy Team Lead, the candidate will be responsible for:
Candidates will have a post – secondary education in Political Science, Native Studies, Social Sciences, Library Sciences, or a related field.
1-2 years’ experience in research. School or volunteer experience is valid experience.
Experience with Excel and Adobe Acrobat DC, NVIVO software would be an asset.
Key Responsibilities – Public Policy Assistant
Reporting to the Manager of Consultation, the candidate will be responsible for:
Candidates will have a post – secondary education in Public Policy, Governance, Political Sciences, or a related field.
1-2 years’ experience in public policy or related research.
Experience with Excel and Adobe Acrobat DC, NVIVO software would be an asset.
