The Role
Under the direction of the Manager of Seniors Supports the purpose of the Healing and Wellness Supervisor is to provide appropriate supportive interventions to frontline programming ensure the quality, consistency and continuity of daily programming operations as well as complete understanding including compliance to all MNO Policies and procedures. Varying supports and/or individualized action plans will be developed, actioned and monitored by the Supervisor. This position will not have a budgetary authority specifically; however, will work in collaboration with the entire Healing and Wellness management team as a primary participant in the development of annual project work plans and partnering budgets The long-term intent of this position is to allow direct hands on opportunity for individuals to build the skills and knowledge required for a management position within the Métis Nation of Ontario.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
This position reports directly to the Manager of Seniors Supports, and is responsive to all Healing and Wellness programs.
In carrying out the following duties, it is expected that the Healing and Wellness Branch Supervisors will:
Fully understand the significance and fundamental importance of MNO’s Statement of Prime Purpose (SPP) to all MNO’s work, and to the requirements of the position specifically
Adhere to MNO Policies and Procedures and MNO’s Financial Policies and Procedures at all times
Uphold MNO’s Standards of Professional Conduct at all times
Adhere to Privacy Laws and respect confidential information at all times
The employee must be cognizant of the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workers’ Safety and Insurance Board, Ontario Human Rights Code, Canadian Human Rights Act, and other legislative provisions governing the employment relationship between MNO and the employee Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with established Métis Nation of Ontario Policies and Procedures and Contribution Agreements
Work in collaboration within the Branch, other MNO branches, MNO leadership, MNO citizens, MNO contractors and consultants on related projects Attend the Annual General Assembly (MNO Policy 2.120)
The incumbent is responsible for the following items, as well as other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Designated Approving Authority:
Human Resources Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Manager of Seniors Supports provide support, training and skill development and supportive interventions to frontline employees for matters related to standards of service provision.
Engage in follow up monitoring activities for employee support plans. Participate in weekly Supervisor’s meeting with Manager of Operations
Answer calls and provide programming support and report to Managers with sufficient information including recommendations for instructions/approvals to be provided where needed.
Engage in monthly one on one service reviews with program coordinators and report back to the management team.
Sit in on team meetings via telephone or teleconference; report back as per the template format Take notes on all calls and interaction; report back as per the template format
Engage in supportive site visits as required; report back as per the template format
Shadow managers on occasion for site audits.
Assist frontline with planning/marketing various submission activities; report back as per the template format Review team meeting minutes and report weekly to Manager of Operations/ Management team.
Review Event planning templates and send forward requests, etc. as required.
Debrief with frontline as required; report back as per the template format
Receive and forward documentation from frontline onwards (posters, duty to report, etc.)
Facilitate the interactions to support front line through program change when it is presented Conduct frontline performance evaluations as the final step of a collaborative process with entire management team
Support mangers with assignments as required.
Participation in MNO Healing and Wellness training as needed/determined.
Advisory Responsibilities:
Report directly to the Manager of Operations
Ensure Manager of Operations is briefed on important client, staff, volunteer and community related matters immediately Collaborate with management team to prepare the performance reviews for programs and individual employees
Inform Manager of Seniors Supports of training requests and recommendations Collaborate with management team to prepare supporting documents and action plans required to endorse program change and front line adherence as required
Collaborate monthly with the Manager of Operations to prepare one on one service reviews for program coordinators
Work with H&W management team to prepare yearly Annual Submissions for all programs.
Supervision:
Healing and Wellness Front line employees; CAPC /CPNP/ CWW/ MHBHC/ MFWB/ CSS/ Aging at Home/ Mental Health- Coordinators
Financial Responsibilities:
Ensure PTO and PO forms as well as Expense and PCard reports are completed correctly – forward on to Manager of Operations
Work with H&W management team to prepare the information needed for Finance branch to set up accurate program budgets, budget lines and amounts as per our funding agreements.
Work with Healing and Wellness Manager(s) to develop appropriate tools to support front line struggling with internal financial processes and/or procedures.
Conduct monthly budget reviews with program coordinators and report back to Manager of Operations and Control.
Qualifications
Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture
Post-Secondary education in a Social Health related field and/or minimum of 2 years’ experience in providing Supervisory or Management of programs and services in an Aboriginal setting.
Vulnerable Sector Check
Relevant background in Métis focused and broader Aboriginal health promotion, recreation and social programs
Well-developed administrative, organizational and communication skills in order to meet deadlines
Proficiency with computer programs
Ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
Knowledge of Métis focused and broader Aboriginal programs and services
Flexible work schedule with ability to work extended hours or week-ends as necessary
Willingness and ability to travel.
