The Outbound Logistics Manager US & Canada is a manager of a team responsible of operational Outbound Logistics from the USA and Canada for Metso Outotec Services & Consumables Business Areas. The manager is responsible for performance of outbound logistics in the USA and Canada, covering the collection of goods, export clearance and delivery both for domestic and export orders in the USA and Canada. Preferred location for the role would be Columbia SC or Phoenix (Mesa) AZ.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the operational performance and resources of outbound logistics team in the US and Canada, located in multiple sites.
Manage and execute arranging of transportation with selected Logistics Service Providers according to the operating model and terms & conditions incl. ensuring Logistics documentations is accurate and completed for transportation, collaboration with Logistics Service Providers for warehousing, customs brokerage, and transportation.
Manage and further develop US and Canada export operations to ensure optimization of on time delivery, freight cost, operational efficiency while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Ensure the US and Canada export compliance is setup & run as per local regulations and Metso Outotec global/regional guidelines. Operate with selected Customs Brokers and Logistics Service Providers in exports. Performance monitoring and management of local customs brokerage. Operative execution of local customs brokerage with Customs Brokers. Responsibility of obtaining missing/requested information or facilitating documentation corrections from the customs broker in order to support customs clearance.
Monitoring / follow-up / pro-active communication: Monitoring Logistics Center’s activities to ensure on-time and correct booking for transportation. Responsibility of shipping and loading activities despite the terms & conditions (e.g. incoterms). Active shipments monitoring and deviation management – Pro-active communication and systems information updates in case of changes and ensure preventing/corrective actions when feasible and possible
Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems and processes, incl. Quotation and Order Management teams, Global Order Operations, Logistics Control Towers, Distribution Center operations, Trade Compliance and Finance.
Perform other miscellaneous duties and/or other special projects as required.
Skills and Abilities:
Management skills with strong interpersonal and team working skills
Solid organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects, and ensure operational performance of the team.
Qualifications and Experience:
Masters or bachelor’s Degree in supply chain/logistics, business or related discipline
5+ years of experience in international trade and/or logistics
Experience of leading operational team
English language at professional level, both written and verbal.
Able and willingness to travel max 20% of the time.
