A carpenter is a skilled tradesperson who specializes in working with wood and other materials to construct, install, and repair various structures and fixtures. Carpenters typically work in the construction industry, but they can also be employed in maintenance and repair roles.
Salary: $34.00 Per Hour
Location: Pitt Meadows, BC
Hours: 7:30AM – 5PM Monday – Friday
Reading and Interpreting Blueprints: Review and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements, dimensions, and materials needed.
Material Selection and Preparation: Select appropriate materials, such as lumber, plywood, or other building materials, based on project specifications. Measure, cut, shape, and prepare materials according to the design and layout requirements.
Construction and Installation: Construct and install structures, fixtures, and components using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery. This may involve framing walls, building roofs, installing doors, windows, stairs, cabinets, or other custom-made elements.
Joinery and Finishing: Perform precise joinery techniques, including cutting and fitting joints, using methods such as mortise and tenon, dovetail, or tongue and groove. Apply finishes, such as stains, varnishes, or paints, to protect and enhance the appearance of completed projects.
Repair and Restoration: Assess damaged structures or fixtures and perform necessary repairs or restoration work. This may involve replacing broken or worn-out components, fixing structural issues, or refinishing surfaces.
Safety and Compliance: Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Adhere to building codes, regulations, and quality standards to ensure the structural integrity and safety of constructed elements.
Measurement and Calculation: Accurately measure and calculate dimensions, angles, and quantities to determine material requirements and layout specifications.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other construction professionals to ensure accurate implementation of design plans and project requirements. Coordinate tasks with other tradespeople on the job site.
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and perform regular inspections of tools, equipment, and machinery to ensure proper functioning and safe operation.
