Description

Michels Canada is looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our growing team! In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of invoices, expense reports and other financial transactions. Additionally, you will support the ongoing maintenance of vendor files to ensure efficiency while exercising best practices in compliance with company policies. This is a great opportunity for an entry level accounts payable professional to learn and develop alongside of a growing business!

This position will be based at our Canadian head office in Nisku, AB.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customer and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
• Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment. Perform transactional data entry into system applications with a degree of accuracy
• Scan, organize, and file invoices
• Reconcile vendor statements to open invoices
• Serve as a point of contact for vendors
• Identify and research errors on vendor checks. Notify appropriate management of discrepancies
• Handle administrative needs of department: open and process mail, receive and distribute faxes, assist with correspondence, make copies, maintain standard department materials and manage distribution
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 1-3 years’ experience in a similar position. Preference for some experience in Accounts Payable environment.
• Possess strong computer proficiency in MS Office including MS Word and MS Excel. Experience with Viewpoint is an asset.

EDUCATION

• Post secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or related program is preferred by not required.
